Terri K O 🍁
Library books returned March 16, 2025

My books: The Pairing. This book is a beautiful love letter to food, Europe, and sex. I was very much not the target audience and nearly didn't finish it, but it's good just meant for someone who doesn't look at wine and cathedrals and feel vaguely sick.

Games: Snow White - a logic puzzle game for kids. Too easy for my kid but he enjoyed finishing all the master levels in like 5 minutes.

Kid books: I didn't read the easy readers with him and most of the dog books were beloved repeats. The new ones:

Stella Unleashed - a poetry collection from the view of the dog. Delightful.

Dashing Dog - also poetry but an adventure story!

Invisible Leash - this one is about pet loss and kiddo decided that was too sad to read it. It looked sweet but kind of wordy.

#library #books #bookstodon #BookReview

Sco :progress: :flag_mm:
Scott's review of Calling In - BookWyrm

This book is advocating, and hoping to start a movement of activism, based less in call-outs, and more in call-in. Bascially, less shunning and insulting of an opposing believe, political or otherwise. And more leaving room to a discussion. Daisy 🌙🪺
Okay, a book request.

I feel like I've read just about every thriller and crime writer out there at this point, but I want new stuff if it exists. Specifically, I want things in the vein of Tana French, Liz Nugent, Megan Abbott, and maybe a dash of Jennifer Hillier and Karin Slaughter.

I include Karin Slaughter *very* tentatively, because some of her stuff is too much for me (Pretty Girls), but I did really love The Good Daughter and False Witness, and I'm in the mood for that kind of unflinching realism right now I think.

I like books about bad people doing bad things, but with an emotional core that keeps it from becoming gratuitous or exhausting and gives me someone to root for, and all of these writers know their way around a sentence, which is always a plus. Tana French is the best to ever do it IMO, and Liz Nugent was a new discovery for me last year and Strange Sally Diamond immediately went on my favorites list, and I've been obsessed with Megan Abbott's flowery prose and morally questionable/vaguely homoerotic girl characters for years. So yes, more of all of this please. #books #bookstodon
