A couple mistakes were finger jerks on the mouse button 😂 I need to run through them again until I don't have to look any up. <br><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/HamRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HamRadio</span></a></p>
David Croyle<p>Working on a slight happy buzz this morning because last night I made my most distant ham contact ever - FT8 of course - with Malawi, which is 10,081 miles from me. :) (That's 16,106km in new money.)</p><p><a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/ft8" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ft8</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/Africa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Africa</span></a></p>

David Croyle<p>Good day of ham radio progress! I just got my first FT8 QSO confirmation on QRZ (of 8), and also picked up MS on SSB towards QRZ WAS, leaving just 2 states for that goal... And hopefully I'll have my first POTA FT8 contact confirmed as well. </p><p>I'm having more fun with FT8 than I thought I would too, so big bonus points there.</p><p><a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/ft8" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ft8</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/POTA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>POTA</span></a></p>
David Croyle<p>I tried my first go at getting on the air with FT8. I think the experience can be neatly summarized by saying "I think I made three QSOs?" 😂 </p><p>After this experience, I will definitely break down and try to watch some basic How To videos on YouTube, since the written material all seems to be somewhat wanting in regards to basic operations.</p><p><a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/ft8" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ft8</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a></p>

Kimberly Chase (she/her) 🏳️‍⚧<p>I'm having a hard time throwing an antenna up the tree... I made multiple attempts to toss some fishing line up the tree using a fishing pole, but I would hit a snag each time and lose the weight and large sections of the fishing line in the process. The idea was to use the fishing line to help me get a wire up the tree. Anyone have any alternate ideas on how I can get a long wire up a tree?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/amateurradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>amateurradio</span></a></p>

I expected this based on my past comparisons between Yaesu and Kenwood APRS capable radios. The difference is night and day. </p><p>I really do believe that the Kenwood APRS HTs have always been the best in terms of performance and features. And they have real, externally accessible TNCs, which is great for packet and <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/Winlink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Winlink</span></a>! </p><p>The Kenwood radios really are nice, but $$$</p><p><a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a></p>
