Via NIXLE: AB 413 became state law January 1, 2025- making it illegal to park within 20 feet (approximately 1 car length of the vehicle approach side of any marked or unmarked crosswalk. This law applies regardless of if the curb is marked or not.

Anecdotally, I can't recall ever seeing #pedestrian traffic in #manhattan as busy as it is today during any prior month of February.

I believed that the longer #congestionpricing remained in effect, the more data would support it. But it's increasingly looking like *all* data will support it, not some.

As the new US federal government continues to signal that it sees buying and burning petroleum as the only valid form of transportation, walking and biking become even more political acts.

I have been involved in similar schemes. The plan is to confuse drivers into giving up priority. But that doesn't work, because drivers are conditioned and experienced in always having priority unless it is definitely taken away from them.

B&H Photo Video closes at ONE on Fridays, not at THREE as I keep thinking. Got there at 1:30 and boy was I sad. Walked to 36th & 5th, to "42nd Street Photo" on 36th Street, natch, where I paid more than twice for B&W 120 roll film. Boy are my dogs tired (I live 46th/ 10th).

The new Wallace and Grommet claymation movie on BBC accurately sends up narrowboating with its high-speed boat chase, when a very aged person and her dog walking on the towpath slightly outpace the boats on the canal.

When I mentioned this to my friend D, he replied: "Ha ha. Yeah, we got passed by a lady in a motorized wheelchair this summer."

No rest for the wicked. Though I did take today off from getting worked up about my next local battle -- figuring out why #MDOT doesn't want a #pedestrian walkway on a new bridge over the #SacoRiver. Also, why isn't MDOT addressing the fact that cars, trucks and SUVs go way too fast on that stretch of #Route202 anyways, and it should be more #bicycle and #pedestrian friendly (considering there are hiking / biking trails on both sides of the river, an ice cream shop, a library, and a marijuana shop nearby).

#Pedestrian should be redefined to mean exciting, not boring.
