Beautiful and so very #ArtNouveau silver plated table lamp by Moritz Hacker of Vienna, circa early 1900s.
Featuring a slender mermaid, her arms raised and reclining back into the gracefully arched shape of the lamp stem. This curves forward in fluid form and houses the extremely pretty shell shade.

Sadie’s rain cape is back in the hallway closet this morning. We’re having a major rain failure today and Mr. Bluesky is back! 🌞

We enjoyed a quiet morning stroll along Capitol Lake, observing the buffleheads (my faves), mallards (Sadie’s faves), red-neck grebes, goldeneyes, and other waterfowl. We were both in good spirits upon returning to our apartment.

Early today, when the streets were nearly empty, a personal passenger vehicle in #Portland appears to have blown a red light and caused a collision with a lightrail train.

People often blame people on bikes for causing collisions because they’re not well lit, not following traffic laws or behaving predictably.

If a train with intensely bright headlights, that literally runs on both rails & a schedule isn’t safe, maybe the problem isn’t people on bikes.

"Unlike industries...where efficiency gains lead to lower prices...housing behaves more like healthcare or higher education. The more money we pour in, the more bloated, inefficient & expensive it becomes. Instead of lowering costs, increased liquidity in housing generally fuels speculation, consolidates market power, and creates financial instability. The result isn’t affordability — it’s an ever-expanding cycle of booms, busts and bailouts."
