I recently learned that Woodley Park has its very own crustacean, the inimitable Hay's Spring Amphipod. Long believed extinct, it was recently rediscovered, a sign that our water quality and storm water managment is improving! #WoodleyPark
"Since its original discovery in 1938, the Hay’s spring amphipod has been found within a 2.5-mile area of the National Zoological Park & Rock Creek Park...watershed...ultimately flows into the Potomac River."
