The Great Stamps War of 1963 saw Tesco in the green corner with their Green Shield Stamps and Priceright in the pink corner with their American-financed pink stamps. Sainsbury’s didn’t support any colour - they were anti-stamp. It was all to do with customer loyalty and the thrill of receiving a “free” gift.

The economic blackout on Feb. 28 doesn't appear to have had much impact — on Amazon, at least, where transactions were 1% higher than a typical Friday, though the buying pattern through the day was different from normal. Here's @forbes's story.

ForbesAmazon Defies ‘Economic Blackout’ As Sales Climb During BoycottDespite calls for an "economic blackout" targeting major retailers on February 28th, early data reveals Amazon sales actually increased during the boycott period.

"Many have taken to TikTok — the site of much of their frustration — to declare that they are participating in “Low Buy 2025” or “No Buy 2025” and sharing the ways they are curbing their spending. Some “shop their closet,” and others pledge to make sure their containers of blush hit pan before being enticed into buying a new one. The videos have garnered millions of views since the start of the year."

Posting again, because it needs amplification, Altgrocery.ca is a database of local, independent food stores and producers as well as farmers markets.

We’ve used it to find new stores in our region. In many cases we’re getting better value, and often discovering products we’d never seen in supermarkets. Some are imported from beyond North America but we also find many specialty products from local and regional producers.

Smaller ethnic grocers are carrying many Canadian-made versions of their traditional foods. Whether it’s cheeses, sausages, bakery treats, or prepared dishes, we’ve found a lot to discover while supporting regional producers.

Altgrocery.ca grew out of the Loblaws boycott in Canada which has been running since last spring in response to the anticompetitive behaviour and price fixing of the Weston companies in Canada.

It was originally crowdsourced but the grocers, producers and farmers markets have been able to claim their own profiles. The public can still recommend new places to add.

It’s now expanded to include the United States and Australia.

"E-commerce didn’t kill bricks-and-mortar stores, but it made them worse. Much worse.

Physical stores today are understaffed and full of inconveniences such as locked shelves and self–checkout lines. Now, add one more gripe to the list: not enough stuff.

If you have ever trekked to a store only to be told the item you are looking for is out of stock but can be ordered online, you aren’t alone."

I'm looking for recommendations for a respirator that's easy to put on and take off a face with long hair and glasses. Specs I need:

* N95 or better
* Protected filter housing; not adjacent to skin
* Adjustable fit
* Minimally restrictive air intake, or enough sealed space to feel air moving on my skin
* Not valved
* Available in US

Preferred:
* Not disposable

My concerns, in case you're aware of something that addresses them, without necessarily fitting the specs.

Duck-billed disposable N95s (3Ms V-flex) seem to address the anxiety restricted airflow triggers in me after about 30 minutes in an oval shaped N95. They also sit right on my skin, so when a hot flash makes my face sweaty, that triggers concerns & anxiety that the sweat may be compromising the integrity of the mask.

I have a valved P100 that's comfortable enough, but is a) a production to put on and take off, and b) doesn't protect other people from me.

I have a pointy European nose, which doesn't fit properly inside most masks made for the Asian market.

Got any recommendations?
