Weird Tales vol. 26, no. 1 (July 1935)
Oh so that's what happened to Atlantis? A volcano erupted and it shot all the Atlanteans out into the sky? Because of this young woman and her nun friend?

Yeah no idea what's going on here, it's all a little mad. What are those three disks? Are those space-text-messages supposed to be literal, as in, he can see them floating in space? Or less literal, like he can hear them or see them on a console but they're reproduced for us?

Last night's #Horror film.
Braid (2018)
Two wanted women decide to rob their wealthy psychotic friend who lives in the fantasy world they created as children; to take the money they have to take part in a deadly perverse game of make-believe.

I love psycho-horror that leaves you speechless. Like, what the hell did I just watch?
A little drawing from my mixed-paper screenshot. It's fun to work with these trasparent overlays!
Worlds of IF (February 1973)
There's a volcano, obv. But also those meteor things are shooting down? What's the ship doing? Looking for survivors? I have some bad news if so. Maybe the dude in the corner is the survivor in which case shouldn't he be waving?

Silent Hill F certainly looks interesting. It's beautiful and eerie, and from that first trailer it does feel like like a Silent Hill game with some undeniable Fatal Frame vibes, which isn't a bad thing IMO. Curious to see how the whole taking place in Japan in the 1960s approach will play out, and how it ties to the Silent Hill mythos. Seeing Akira Yamaoka's name once again attached to a SH title, is definitely another plus.
I finally watched the movie Coherence (2016) last night, and though it's a bit rough and unpolished, the premise is very good and plays out excellently.
It's on Peacock now, but I think I had it for a long time in my Hulu queue (it's gone now).
It's a typical white person dinner party flick that slowly devolves into something unsettling and disturbing.
When a mirror isn't a mirror
The best thing about long journeys is the time you have to either read or write. I wrote this creepy story on the plane after being inspired by the holiday home we stayed at, which had many old-fashioned mirrors.
“We should all start texting each other like old timey explorers. ‘Dearest friend, I have survived another week, the horrors persist.’”

The books I’m sharing are free as of today in Canada and usually the United States of America, too. If you do not live in those countries or are reading this after March 13, 2025, I do not know if they are free or available for you.
Please tag me if you want a boost for your lists of free speculative fiction books from other parts of the world.

DEVASTATINGLY BLEAK, POETIC work of profound horror is a brutal, beautifully crafted exploration of the depths of the human heart. Not for everyone, but for those willing to look into the abysses of our nature, it’s powerful as hell. A MINUS
Astounding vol. 51, no. 3 (May 1953)
This is both ugly and incomprehensible, so yeah. I can't find anything to like here at all. Which I suppose makes it unique among all the thousands of images posted by this account?
